Liat Maggid Alon is a historian of the modern Middle East and North Africa. Her areas of expertise are Jewish Middle Eastern societies, modernity and modern Middle Eastern societies, modern Israel and Israeli culture, social history of the Jewish family, and gender studies. Dr. Maggid Alon's current research focuses on the Jewish Lebanese community and the struggle over the memory of Jewish lives the Middle East. She recently published, "The Jewish Bourgeoisie of Egypt in the First Half of the Twentieth Century: Modernity, Socio-Cultural Practices and Oral Testimonials," in the journal Jama'a (2019). Dr. Maggid Alon earned her Ph.D. from Ben Gurion University of the Negev (2018).
