Alon Burstein

Alon Burstein is a political scientist with interest in analyzing the ideological developments of protest movements and exploring how conflict dynamics produce worldviews that motivate, sanction or hinder the use of different violent and non-violent tactics. Dr. Burstein recently completed his dissertation, applying social movement theory to the analysis of the ideological developments of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the Palestinian Hamas during the First Intifada. He has also written about the development of Ethiopian protests in Israel, as well as about ideologies of extremist movements worldwide. Dr. Burstein received his Ph.D. from Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
