Uri Dorchin is a cultural anthropologist. His work offers grounded analysis of translocal cultural interactions and the implications of these in contemporary Israel. Within that framework, Dr. Dorchin’s research explores the significance of hip hop, as music and cultural style, in the life of young Israelis. He is the co-editor of, Blackness in Israel: Rethinking Racial Boundaries (Routledge, 2020). Previously he was an Associate Professor at the Academic College Zefat, Efroymson Visiting Israeli Scholar at Washington University in St. Louis, and the Israel Institute Visiting Faculty at the Nazarian Center for Israel Studies at UCLA. He received his Ph.D. from Ben-Gurion Unviersity in the Negev (2009).
