
Yuval Ben Bassat

Yuval Ben Bassat is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies and Vice Dean of the Humanities for Research at the University of Haifa. His research focuses on Late Ottoman Palestine. He has written about Ottoman petitions, the Young Turk Revolution, Ottoman maps, the early Jewish-Arab encounter, and the history of late Ottoman Israel, in general. He authored, Peti, Bustantioning the Sultan: Protests and Justice in Late Ottoman Palestine, (I.B.TAURIS, 2013). Professor Ben Bassat has previously taught at the University of Chicago and the University of California at Berkeley. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago (2007).
