Honors Symposium

Group photo with Honors Symposium 2020 participants and facilitatorsThe Honors Symposium is a selective three-day workshop for undergraduate students interested in Israel and the Middle East. The workshop includes lectures by leading researchers, a movie screening, a simulation exercise, and networking opportunities. Top university sophomores, juniors, and seniors have a unique opportunity to learn about topical issues related to Israel in an interactive, academic setting, as well as learn about graduate studies in the field of Israel studies.

At the end of the symposium, students leave with an insiders’ understanding of contemporary issues in Israeli politics and society, as well as strategic advice about how pursue an academic career.

ELIGIBILITY

The Honors Symposium is open to university sophomores, juniors, and seniors in the United States who are interested in Israel and the Middle East and who are considering graduate work related to modern Israel.

The Institute covers economy transportation to and from the symposium within the United States, lodging, and food during the program.

 

HOW TO APPLY

To be considered for participation in the Honors Symposium, you must complete the online application via the application portal. You will be asked to submit the following information:

1) General information (name, contact details, school, etc.);

2) Your GPA;

3) A statement of intent explaining why the Honors Symposium is of interest to you (up to 100 words);

4) An academic curriculum vitae (CV) or resume; and

5) An unofficial transcript.

Following the application deadline, the Institute will contact you if you are accepted into the symposium cohort.
