Alisa Lewin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology at the University of Haifa and is affiliated with the Center for the Study of Poverty and Social Exclusion. Her primary research interests are demography of the family, poverty, and inequality. Recent projects include: Living Apart Together, funded by the Israel Science Foundation; Gender and Security, funded by the Israel Science Foundation (with Sa'ar & Aharoni); Social Protest and the Poor, funded by the Ministry of Science (with Shamai); and Material Hardship in Israel(with Stier). She previously taught at the University of Haifa and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Chicago. Dr. Lewin received her Ph.D. from UCLA (1996).
