Alona Nitzan-Shiftan is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning, Head of the Avie and Sarah Arenson Built Heritage Research Center , and was the first Chair of the Architecture Program at the Technion. Her research interests include history and theory of modern architecture, the politics of architecture, cultural heritage, and architectural histography. She previously taught at the University of Michigan and was the Kress Curatorial Fellow at the National Gallery of Art. professor Nitzan-Shiftan's most recent book, Seizing Jerusalem: The Architectures of Unilateral Unification, was published by University of Minnesota Press in 2017. She received her S.M.Arch.S. and Ph.D from MIT (2002).
